I started by scanning tapes with my Cuecat. Some of the barcodes
were covered up, so I used yahoo
movie pages like this one to get the UPC codes. The result is vhscodes. Then I wrote movieIndex.py which looks up movies in a UPC database (thanks, Google!)
to get the title then and IMDB to
get the year etc.
I took a few notes
in the #swig IRC channel while I was at it.
Hmm... the quick-n-dirty xml parsing techniques in movieIndex.py might merit an advogato blog article. But it's late. Maybe another day, maybe not
