New Hampshire Road Trip

Dan's July travel took him to New Hampshire for an MIT CSAIL annual retreat. It's a family event, so we made a road trip of it. In 12 days, we covered 15 states (and provinces):

Sunday, 20 June: to St. Louis

We started out on Sunday afternoon. Dan's sister Jeanne and her family in St. Louis hosted us that night. Their kitchen remodelling project looks great, even though it's not quite finished. Dan played hot-box with the cousins and had a blast flinging Justing around in the pool. No pictures from that stop; bummer.

Monday, 21 June: St. Louis to Brookville, PA

This was day 1 of a 2 day journey to NY. We started in Kansas, drove accross Missouri, Illinois, a bit of Indiana and all of Ohio, and stopped at the Gold Eagle Inn in Brookville, PA.

Tuesday, 22 June: arriving in NY

We left Pennsylvania, drove accross New Jersey and arrived in New York Tuesday afternoon.

Wednesday 23 June: the City and the pool

On Wednesday, Deb and Mary hit the city.

Meanwhile, Dan and Storm took the cousins to the pool club. Then we came back to the house and played with the rabbit and the big ball.

Priceline Rocks!

Priceline is one of those things that seems too good to be true, to me, but Mary suggested we try to get a deal on a NY hotel that way. It worked! We paid well under half the list price for a room at the Springhill Suites by Marriott Tarrytown).

As we were pulling off the highway and looking for the hotel, I realized that we had completely trusted The Web: we didn't even call to confirm that the hotel existed. But it was right there where the yahoo maps driving directions said it would be.
